A welcome message from Lenard Marlow, Founding Partner, DMP.

For almost forty years now, my professional life has been devoted to helping husbands and wives address the practical problems they suddenly found themselves faced with as a result of their decision to divorce.

I wrote The Two Roads to Divorce, because I wanted husbands and wives faced with their own divorces to have the benefit of my experience before they decided how to proceed and which type of divorce to choose.

My colleagues and I created this blog for the very same reason. Today, when people consider divorce, they don’t necessarily head to the bookstore or the library as they did when I began practicing. Today, they go online, where there is an avalanche of information–much of it confusing, biased or just plain wrong. Divorce is difficult enough as it is. Those going through it do not need to be left more overwhelmed and frightened than they already are.

I want to offer hope to those going through this very difficult period in their lives. It would be irresponsible for me to paint pretty pictures for you, or to tell you that you do not have anything to worry about. Nevertheless, I do want to convince you that as dark as things may now appear, if you will think and act carefully, rather than just react emotionally, there can be light at the end of the road. Not as a certainty. Nothing in life is certain. Nevertheless, as a real possibility.

With time and effort, it can happen.

I appreciate that it will be difficult if not impossible for you to see this now. That is why you will need the eyes of someone who is able to see it for you. That is why you will need someone to inspire you to hope, and to give you a reason to have hope. I would very much like to do that.

This blog is a place where we can share what we’ve learned, and hopefully be a steady voice in a difficult time.

Sincerely,

Lenard Marlow, Esq.
